Moorland Road, Bromley 1938

moorland-road-00961-350

Moorland Road was built around 1865 by local builder William Morum following the removal of the gas works to the other side of town.

The original inhabitants were a mixture of farm workers, still employed on the rural lands to the north, builders and labourers gradually reducing the farmland, many having moved into the area from London or further afield.

Initially without mains water supply, there were complaints about the standard of water until this was rectified.

Surviving the redevelopment of much of the surrounding area the cottages remain popular homes today.
