Amersham Road, New Cross, Lewisham, c. 1902

amersham-road-01548-350

Amersham Road was laid out in the 1850s.

Generally New Cross Road and Lewisham Way form a distinct boundary with development aimed at the working classes to their north and the middle-classes to their south.

The arrival of the North Kent Line at New Cross Station in 1850 proved a considerable stimulus to the latter.
