Green Dragon Court, Borough, c. 1930

Green Dragon Court connects Borough High Street with Borough Market.

The latter dates from the mid 18th century and is a successor to the mediaeval market.

The seemingly ancient shopfront is a fraud, being a 17th century Dutch shop-front design that was added to the building in 1923.

Green Dragon Court takes its name from a house of that name. The 'To Let' sign is indicative of the City's long involvement in Southwark's affairs.
